Fundamental
Aspects Of Poker Online
While in office
or school, someone is generally watching over your shoulder and ensuring that
you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. Yes, still you can get away
with slacking when these 'supervisors' are not looking, but at the end of the
day, there is still a pesky report to make that you send over to someone, at
the end of the day or week or semester (if you are a student).
But this factor
does not exist in professional poker. You do not have to report to anyone,
there is simply no one who expects or requires anything from you. In this case,
you are what may seem for the better, but is in fact the worse, your own boss.
This is a field wherein you only have to answer for yourself to yourself. So,
it takes a fair amount of discipline to actually get it done what you are out
to do.
Or ideally, it
should. Discipline is needed for being a successful poker player. This is the
first tip that all "how to play poker" tutorials suggest. But few get
them right. For instance, if you have set a goal to play 5,000 hands per month,
then you should go out and do that. If in case you find that you do not want to
play at all, then there is the obvious risk that you may not be able to focus at
the game at all.
Also many
players have specified limits that they aim to play at and the conditions for
when they would move up a rank or move down. Really sticking to this strategy
takes a lot of discipline especially after taking a bad downswing. The biggest
disciplinary advice to poker players to avoid listening to the little devil on
your shoulder that keeps telling you that if you stay at the limits you are
playing or even climb it up, then you can win back what you've lost faster. But
please do resist that urge, which will again take a lot of discipline but will
in the long run help you play poker online and make money out of it
consistently.
There are a few
other things that you need to be disciplined about. The second being studying
about how to play a poker cash game right. Set goals more than just simply
sitting down and analyze and carefully read poker hands for three hours every
week, because you know how important it is for your personal growth as a
serious poker player. However, you are not quite done yet. Because doing the
job is actually much harder than making the decision about doing it.
